Importance of Meal Planning – A Registered Dietitian’s Perspective

Wendy Busse is a registered dietitian specializing in food hypersensitivity. She provides online CE programs for dietitians and is a member of the AAIA professional advisory board. More details are available at Next link will open in a new windowwww.foodallergynews.com.

Even though I am a dietitian, meal planning has been a struggle for me. I used to spend more time worrying about what I would make, than actually making it! Meal planning has reduced my stress and time that I spend in the kitchen. I’ve been able to put my knowledge of healthy food choices into practice.

Meal planning is even more beneficial for families that have to consider food restrictions, because they may not be able to rely on processed foods (or they may be very expensive!). In addition, involving children with severe allergies in meal planning and preparation is a great way to help them overcome food related anxieties.

If you Google “meal planning ideas” you will find several helpful websites. I’ve also prepared video presentations with different strategies that I have found useful. See Next link will open in a new windowwww.foodallergynews.com for more details.

Good luck with your own journey toward healthier meals.
